Beijing National Stadium
1. Beijing National Stadium, China- This stadium is the best stadium to go and visit as it the most beautiful and most creative stadium that has ever been created. The stadium is used for both the olympics and for football. The maximum capacity that the stadium holds is 91,000. The record attendance that this stadium has had is 89,102 in the 2008 olympics which saw Argentina face Nigeria. The ground was built in early 2008 with a construction cost of 2.3billion euros. This is one of the best stadiums that there are and probably is the best to visit with all the flashing lights and a never seen design that you will surely enjoy.
A FEW FACTS:
- Construction was suspended in 2004 after complaints that it was costing too much. Some 9,000 seats, 12,000 tonnes of steel and the retractable roof were cut from the design. Further delayed for 14 weeks because, officials said, of the complexity of preparing for the opening ceremony.
- After the olympic games it will became the home stadium of Beijing Guoan Football Club and an auction was held for the naming rights. It cost 40 to 50 million yuan ($5.72 million-$7.15 million) a year to run.
- They used 42,000 tonnes of steel and involved the relocation of 4,707 residents from 2,043 households in the surrounding area.
